This month we have covered a few different topics; Remembrance Sunday, World War 1, the issues that people who have Dyslexia have to face & Stress, which can be very serious and needs to be addressed, it is National Stress Awareness Day on 16th November.

The time is fast approaching.....Yes....The End of Term....Dah dah dahhhhh!!!

Yes guys & gals, its that time when we all go into panic mode and rush around getting everything finished oh and we look forward to the last day, no more College.....onto the next chapter!! Whoop Whoop!!

Please remember that even though you may be leaving and moving onto pastures new, there will be a new batch of students all fresh faced and wanting the same chances to do well as you have had....that said, you need to remember to bring in all that you have borrowed over the last term, books, DVDs, long term loan laptops, they are all due back at the latest 20th June!

STRESS.........SILENT BUT DEADLY!!!!!!

Mental Health Week 12th May until 18th May.....having a tough time....just maybe we can help......

So....when your feeling fed up, alone, like nobody cares or nobody understands, generally you will find that there are many people that are going through similar feelings or issues, could even be close friends or relatives, feeling useless, hopeless, alone - PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!  

If you you only speak to one person, that one person may be able to help you out right, just by speaking to you, getting it off your chest or they may be able to put you in touch with someone who can, it has got to be worth trying....YOU are worth it and much more, you need to start to believe in yourself.

Please take one of our leaflets in the LRC at Walkden which is next to the photocopier or you can use the 'Mind'contact details below, there are many, many organisations that can help too and this can be the first step to the rest of your life....whats stopping you?

Walkden New Parents Evening!!

On Tuesday May 20th there will be a fantastic opportunity for new students and parents to come to Walkden Sixth Form Center and see all of our fantastic courses and chat to members of staff. 

Be sure to come along to Walkden Sixth Form Centre at 6pm sharp, and pop up to the Learning Resources Centre!

Unfortunately due to this event taking place the LRC will be closed to current students.

Walkden LRC Closures: 28th & 30th January

Walkden LRC will be closed and the following dates:

• Tuesday 28th January, from 4:30pm.  This is due to a Higher Education finance event taking place.
• Thursday 30th January, from 4:30pm.  Parents Evening will be taking place on this evening.

Now Available for Lending: Iron Man 3

Fresh from Marvel hero-fest The Avengers, the comic-book's favourite metal man returns for his third solo adventure to do battle with a new enemy.

As his personal struggles start to affect his relationship with Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow), an enigmatic figure in the form of Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce) reawakens his distant past to complicate things further.

Tony's world quickly comes under threat from a host of deadly enemies as this latest superhero story proves to be every bit a comedy as it is action-adventure

Packed full of techno-fight scenes and witty one-liners, Iron Man 3 ramps up the action to new heights with an explosive mechanical man showdown that will go down a bomb for fans of the franchise.

If superhero action and easy laughs are your thing then this will definitely be a hit.

Iron Man 3 and other DVDs are available for three-day loans from Walkden LRC, as well as other Salford City College sites.  Please ask staff for details.

Walkden LRC Closures: 20th - 31st January

Walkden Learning Resource Centre will be closed during the following weeks due to exams taking place in the centre:

• Monday 20th - Friday 24th January, 9:00-4:30pm
• Monday 27th - Friday 31st January, 9:00-4:30pm

The LRC will still be open as usual during Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 7pm unless otherwise stated.
